About this segment

There are 97 million overweight or obese Americans in need of management by primary care physicians.

Evidence-based practice guidelines--developed by the NIH's National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, and summarized by the North American Association for the Study of Obesity--address this need.

This course, which is based on these guidelines, introduces you to safe, efficacious and cost-effective ways to prevent and/or treat obesity in the primary care setting.
