Clinical Guidelines for Treatment

Treatment of the overweight or obese patient is a two-step process that includes assessment and management.

Assessment determines the degree of obesity and the absolute risk status. Management involves moderate weight loss (5 - 10% of initial body weight), maintenance of lower body weight, and control of associated risk factors
